Ways to Give

Securities

There are four ways to transfer securities to the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, each with appropriate tax benefits:

  • You pay no capital gains tax on a gift of appreciated securities to the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival.
  • You may claim a Federal income tax deduction based on the full fair market value of the securities on the effective date of your gift.
  1. If a bank or broker holds the securities for you - Electronic Wire Transfer (DTC)
    • You may have your bank or broker wire-transfer the securities directly into an account the Bravo! Festival already holds at Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc.; Attention: Ms. Gail Massey, 1221 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10020; Ph: 212.762.6317; Fax: 212.762.8528; E-mail: gmassey@ms.com. Your broker probably requires a letter of authorization.
    • Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival Account Information: DTC # 050 for further credit to the Bravo! Account # 004-44156.
  2. If you hold the certificates yourself
    • Send the unendorsed stock certificates or bonds by Registered Mail, or deliver them by hand, to the Festival's Director of Development, Jeanne Reid. Include a letter of transmittal that states your name and address and the purpose of the gift.
    • Send by First Class or Express Mail to Jeanne Reid, one signed stock power for each corporation represented by stock, or one signed bond power for each lot of registered bonds, filled in with the number of shares, name of the stock, and the current date. Sign your name exactly as it appears on the certificate.
  3. If a bank or broker holds the securities for you (alternative)
    • Instruct your bank or broker to act as the Bravo! Festival's agent, and transfer the securities into a gift or pass-through account for the Bravo! Festival. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival's Federal Tax I.D. number is 84-1074065.
    • Inform the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival of the gift either by phone or mail, so instructions may be issued for the disposition of the securities.
  4. If you re-register the securities - Please note: Re-registration takes much more time than the other three methods of transfer. We recommend you use one of the other alternatives.
    • Instruct your bank or broker to have the securities re-registered in the name of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival (Tax ID# 84-1074065).
    • Mail the re-registered certificates to Jeanne Reid with a letter stating your name, address, and the purpose of your gift.
