Youth Programs

Take advantage of the many different programs Bravo! has to offer the children living and visiting the Vail Valley.

Live @ the Library

The young, ages 3-7, and the young-at-heart will enjoy fun and informative musical performances by world renowned chamber and orchestral musicians in area libraries.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Children of all ages are exposed to real instruments, a first-time, hands-on experience for  many, in this traveling exhibition. The Zoo is full of percussion, brass, string and woodwind instruments and appears at  community events throughout Eagle County.

Family Concert

Complimentary Concert: July 17

The annual Family Concert is a great way to get kids excited about classical music. In 2008 this informal introduction to orchestral music will feature the National Repertory Orchestra under the baton of Carl Topilow at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail on Thursday, July 17, 2008.

Junior Guild

Junior and senior high school students volunteer during the summer by ushering concerts and assisting with the Festival's Instrument Petting Zoo.

College Internships

Every summer three college interns gain first-hand experience in arts management, public relations and marketing while earning credit towards their degrees. To be considered for an internship position, please submit a cover letter and resume to the attention of the internship committee in January. For more information please call 970.827.4302 or email lcampbell@vailmusicfestival.org.

Music in Our Schools

Collaborating with Colorado Universities and arts organizations, the Festival produces in-school "informances" for children in grades K-12. The programs are free and targeted for schools with significant under-served student populations.

After-School Music Programs

The Festival supports after-school music programs with instruments, music supplies and teacher salaries. Now in their 6th year, the classes are well established at both Gypsum Elementary in Eagle County and Pitts Elementary in Leadville, Colorado.

Winter Residency

An ensemble from the University of Colorado's School of Music spends a week performing in Eagle and Lake County schools and conducting after school workshops with accomplished string students in the Valley. The Residency and after-school workshops culminate with a performance at the Vilar Center for the Arts during which the young instrumentalists perform onstage with the ensemble.

Music Camp Scholarships

Each year the Festival awards funds for student instrumentalists to continue their music education during the summer months.

Instrument Bank

Bravo! purchases instruments and music supplies for schools to supplement and enhance their music programs. Idle instruments are borrowed back during the summer months to use for the Festival's Instrument Petting Zoo.
